Urban Retreat's British Beauty Expert in Cellulite Gets 'Behind' Lipo Contour Elite

After decades of devoting herself to the beauty industry as a model, inventor of the non-surgical face-lift, experience in tissue regeneration and cellulite expert Jo Heptinstall rightly earned the title 'Madame Derrière. Trusted by VIP clients at the exclusive Urban Retreat at Harrods, Jo harnesses her expertise in their Body Clinic to help clients transform orange peel thighs and cottage-cheese bottoms into tight, toned smooth works of art.

Having travelled the globe researching cellulite and slimming remedies, Jo was an instant believer when she witnessed inch-loss and cellulite reduction achieved through the wearing of this breakthrough product Lipo Contour Elite. Jo also discovered that Lipo Contour Elite alleviated the symptoms of heavy leg syndrome.

Jo Heptinstall comments, "My experience as British Beauty Expert with Urban Retreat client's is that most women suffer with heavy leg syndrome especially those over the age of 50. This is the cause of lack of exercise, poor diet, hormone imbalance and not drinking enough water. I myself have suffered with heavy leg syndrome, and was astonished by how the aches and pains in my legs disappeared simply by wearing Lipo Contour Elite. The alleviation of the symptoms are due to the micro-massage action which increases circulation and drains waste toxins".

Jo goes onto say "Lipo Contour Elite is the easiest way to stay in shape that I know of! I would recommend them to anyone who does not have time for vigorous exercise routines because they will see results, though if you exercise you will see even faster, better results".

LIPO CONTOUR ELITE - Frequently asked questions
Answers provided by the British Beauty Cellulite Expert at Urban Retreat–Jo Heptinstall

Q: Do they work?
A: Yes they have been scientifically tested through a large-scale study of 96 women over a period of 8 weeks at the Dermatological Clinic at the University of Chieti, Italy. These tests proved the patented mini wave fabric stimulates the skin to release toxins, fluids and fat in just 4-8 weeks. I have tested them and found these claims to be true.

Q: How do they work?
A: Three special layers of fabric give the effect of massage, heat and pressure helping to increase blood circulation, which in turn this helps to break down fatty deposits giving the results of a reduction in the appearance of cellulite and aids inch loss.

Q: When and where shall I wear them?
A: They are extremely comfortable and trendy, I wear them to the gym and Zumber classes but they also look great as a fashion item so I wear them around the house, doing the shopping and to do housework in.

Q: What about cleaning them?
A: Simply hand wash then like you would your other delicates and leave them to dry naturally. Just be sure not to allow them to have direct contact with heat.

Q: How quickly will I see results?
A: Within days the skin becomes much softer and the body begins to get rid of excess water. Cellulite reduction and inch loss may take a little longer but full results can be seen in just eight weeks and some case studies have seen dramatic results in just seven days.

Q: Will I loose weight?
A: You will loose inches rather than weight.

Q: Do the results last?
A: Once you have reached your optimum inch loss you can wear them periodically to sustain the results.

Q: What kind of results can I expect?
A: My personal experience was softer smoother skin within 24 hours, some inch loss within the next few days and toning within 3-4 weeks, especially around the tummy and buttocks. I didn't do much exercise for the first 3 weeks but then I tried 30 minutes exercise every other day including some Hypoxi exercise treatments at Urban Retreat and the results were greatly improved.

Can a pair of £50 shorts REALLY let you permanently lose inches without plastic surgery, exercise or dieting?

It's the stuff of which dreams are made - a way to lose inches while sitting around in our pants.

But that's exactly what the makers of the Lipo Contour briefs claim their product can do. In only 12 weeks, the shorts apparently refine and lift the body and take inches off the hips and thighs, without the wearer having to go for a single, panting jog.

Sales of the stretchy pants - which look like a pair of particularly snug cycle shorts, have doubled since they were introduced last year.

Like the Spanx pants beloved of celebrities such as Katie Holmes and Gwyneth Paltrow, the briefs have an immediate shaping effect, smoothing down the hips and thighs and sucking in stomachs.

But if worn for eight hours a day for eight to twelve weeks, women might experience more permanent results.

The elastic shorts have two thin, tight layers of mesh fabric over problem areas, according to the designer, Italian cosmetic surgeon Professor Marco Gasparotti. He says, that the micro massage action of which the layers increases blood circulation and helps to break down fatty deposits and therefore smoothes out cellulite.

By assisting the body's lymphatic drainage process the pants also help to eliminate toxins from the body.

The garment, which is specifically designed for women's bodies, was originally meant to be worn by patients recovering from liposuction and lipo Contour treatments. But then the designers realised that it had inch-loss effects of its own. Now, it is available to all women, and can be worn under clothing to work and even to the gym while working out. The product will work without exercise but a little bit of gym time can help. It works more effectively the more active you are. A very active person might see results in four weeks.
Lipo Contour shorts cost £49.99 and focus on the hip, thigh and buttock region. For more widespread inch loss, the Lipo Contour body, at £59.99 has a reinforced panel around the stomach and reaches the knees.

The garment is considered particularly suitable for new mothers keen to whittle themselves back to their pregnancy figure. Lipo Contour products, available in size 10 to 18, sold in pharmacies across the country, as well as on the company's website.

GINA Grundy says she lost inches from her waist, hips and thighs after using the Lipo Contour pants for four weeks. I went from a size 12-14 to a size 10, she said. It has given me a new lease of life. It gives you so much more confidence especially as an older woman. Mrs Grundy, 46 a garden designer lives in Barnett, North London, with her husband Ron, a postman and children Danny 18 and Sarah 12.

The weight crept on gradually and I went up and down trying various diets. It was especially hard after having children, she said. I tried my summer shorts on from last year and they are almost falling off me! It has also improved my skin texture. I don't think you can get rid of cellulite completely but it's definitely improved. Mrs Grundy lost an inch from her waist and two inches from her hips. Each thigh was diminished by one and a half inches while the circumference above her knee was an inch smaller.

I'd always been unhappy with my lumpy thighs and flabby bottom, said Mrs Grundy, I'd tried various ways to shift the weight - aerobic classes to diets, cycling and swimming, and I'd even considered liposuction. She was approached to test the pants after signing up to receive information about weight loss products on an internet website.

I admit that I was dubious to start with - I couldn't understand how a pair of pants could help you lose inches. But in just a month I could see a huge difference. Now I don't feel so self-conscious about wearing a bikini. The one draw back was the effect that the pants had on her husband. He described them as the best form of contraception he had ever seen.

Yes, we were sceptical too!

Particularly when we saw the rather unsexy numbers themselves - a cross between a Victorian girdle and Bridget Jones's pants. They were dreamt up by cosmetic surgeon Professor Marco Gaspartotti, who gave them to his patients to help remodel their stomach, thighs and bum after lipo. The idea is you wear them every day for at least four weeks instead of your normal knickers, although eight to 12 weeks is recommended. The patented-double layered fabric is to be worn tight, so tight in fact that breathing might not be the easy thing it once was. But who cares when it's providing a continual 'micro massage' which the makers say will break down cellulite? The tester, who wore them for eight weeks, lost areas of cellulite, plus an inch off her waist, and thighs, and two of her hips. OK, so you'd get the same (if not better) results if you went to the gym, but if you've tried everything else and failed, they're worth a go. Just don't expect them to be comfy!

"I've been self-conscious about my wobbly thighs, tummy and bottom and dreaded wearing a bikini, so this summer a friend recommended I try out a new slimming undergarment, Lipo Contour. They were developed by an Italian cosmetic surgeon, Professor Marco Gasparotti, who initially advocated them as a support garment for patients post-surgery, but soon noticed they brought benefits of their own. He believes that the pants (which are more like cycling shorts than knickers as they extend from mid-thigh to the belly button) provide a constant micro massage because of the double-layered fabric of their design, which helps contour problem areas.

I wore the pants for eight weeks and the results were amazing - although I hadn't lost any weight, my thighs were reduced by four inches, I lost three from my hips and three from my bottom. I also noticed a dramatic reduction in my cellulite too. I went on holiday a couple of weeks ago, and my confidence has soared; finally I didn't feel the need to pull on my sarong every time I left my sun lounger."

Kate Holmes reports: I'm also wearing Lipo Contour, £49.99 which is like tight cycling shorts and suck you in and promise to take inches off. I'm halfway through my 30-day trial and quite happy with the results.

LK TODAY puts Lipo Contour to the test!

We put a pair of slimming underwear to the test to see if they really do work to help reduce cellulite. We asked Gina Grundy a Garden Designer aged 45 to put them to the test.

GINA REPORTS: At first they seem a little uncomfortable, but after the first week you forget you have them on. After only four weeks wearing Lipo Contour I can see an improvement to my cellulite more on my hips than my bottom. But I have lost inches, 2 inches off my hips and 1.5 inches off each thigh, the effects are brilliant!

When it comes to keeping in shape, I've always stuck by the motto 'no pain, no gain'

So I'm sceptical that a pair of briefs could do more than a Spinning class. But with summer approaching I'm willing to try anything to perk up my droopy bits. I reluctantly pack away my La Perlas and unpack an unsexy Lipo Contour - a cross between a Victorian girdle and Bridget Jones's big pants - dreamed up by cosmetic surgeon Professor Marco Gasparotti. The 'god of lipo' would give a pair to his patients post-surgery to remodel the waist, stomach, thighs and bottom. His patients soon wore the Lipo Contour for longer to flatten their stomach and lift buttocks.

I wear the Lipo Contour for two weeks, and for the first few days, it feels like a boa constrictor wrapped around my waist. The patented double-layered fabric provides a constant uncomfortable 'micro massage' but apparently this breaks down cellulite and perks up circulation, so I suffer in silence.

THE VERDICT: After a week of wearing the Lipo Contour for eight hours a day, I even forgot I have them on. I feel an immediate difference in my posture, and my stomach appears tighter, thighs firmer and cellulite less visible. Apparently, if I wear the pants for 12 week and eat healthily, the results will be permanent. I wouldn't replace a vigorous workout with the Lipo Contour pants, but it can definitely complement your fitness plan.

Clara Spencer, 23, a designer and PA, lives in East London. Clara lost an inch from her thighs and an inch from her bottom.

  • BEFORE: Waist 31in, Hips 37in, Thighs 24 ins, Bottom 43in
  • AFTER: Waist 31in, Hips, 37in, Thighs 23in, Bottom 42 in

CLARA SAYS: I gave the pants a try just to prove to myself and everyone else that they just couldn't work. I'm quite sceptical about all these weight-loss methods that promise results with a minimum effort, and wasn't expecting to see much of an improvement. I'm quite happy with my body although I'm not 100 per cent confident and wouldn't mind losing some weight.

I wore the pants for the recommended eight hours a day for a month. Initially they weren't comfortable at all - they rolled down at the waist and were too tight - so I started wearing them at night when I was asleep. It was a cunning way around the discomfort. The first thing my boyfriend Joe saw me in them, he had a good laugh, but I didn't mind, especially because my skin has become so much smoother over the past month.

The orange-peel texture has almost disappeared, particularly around my bottom, which I'm really pleased about.

I'm keen to stay in shape. The pants haven't helped me lose weight, but just seeing a difference in the smoothness of my skin has been a pleasant surprise. Considering I was expecting to see no change at all, I'm delighted to have been proved wrong.

Three other ladies took part in the Daily Mail experiment with the following outcome:

  • Alison Moran, 34 a PR account director, reported a loss of one inch off her waist and thighs.
  • Claire Gamble, 27. A nanny, reported a loss of 1 ½ inches off her thighs and ½ inch off her bottom
  • Karen Pennington, 44, operations manager, lost 1 inch off her thighs and bottom.
